I started reading Dan Savage's column in the City Pages (Minneapolis) when I was in college, more than 35 years ago. Once the internet came along, I read the entire archive of printed columns, and I've listened to almost every episode of his Savage Love podcast. He's had an amazingly positive effect on the romantic sex lives of millions of people, including mine. I would not be in the best relationship of my life right now (in my 50s) with my French husband without Dan's advice. Who knew that your best relationship/sex years could happen after 50?!
Edited to add that it's thanks to Dan that I found Lyz and her brilliant writing: she was a guest on his podcast talking about her book This American Ex-Wife. I've been impatiently waiting my turn for the book through my local library since July.
As an ace person, this kind of thing absolutely fascinates me. (And thanks to Dan for acknowledging that we exist and can have meaningful relationships.) I was also deeply moved hearing Dan talk about why marriage means what it does to him.
I'm loving this season so far. My only complaint is that every episode isn't seven and a half hours long!
