More so than any of the interviews to date, this one is a genuine fractal of the class struggle that is feminism. Sisyphus was (maybe?) a dude, so pardon the use of Sisyphus-ian to describe the multi-generational project of rolling one pebble up a hill, only to have those promoted by status quo to ascendancy kick that pebble and six more rocks back upon the roller.
So many great books to read -- and now there are at least two more. Thanks to all for that. I am very familiar with The Divorcee and even when I saw it for the first time as a college student and rattled the chains of our mutual oppression by thinking "huh, that was a pre-Code movie? they sure wimped out on the ending" Turns out that interpretation holds up still. Unfortunately. Is it unimaginative to cast Jennifer Jason Leigh in the Ex Wife movie, after she already played Dorothy Parker...?

Can’t help but think of this bar in Salt Lake City.

It started out as My Wife’s Place, morphed into My Ex-Wife’s Place, & now for maybe 20 years it’s been X-Wife’s Place.
Make of this what you will.
