It's deeply unfair to all other newsletters that Lyz gets the best, funniest guest writers every time. Thank you Felipe for this excellent edition of Dingus of the Week!
For my friends following along with Dingus Madness, this is the final round. I have thoroughly enjoyed setting this up and I am sorry to all y'all that there were so many agonizing choices to make about who sucks worse. I am already looking forward to the 2026 poll where I expect this week's Dingus to go far.
* "This administration’s reign is one of cruelty, yes, but also one of sheer and proud ignorance. One where the only truth is eternal thanks and submission to an America they invented in their heads, which knows no before and no after. An America that has no friends and no flaws."
America: the Prettiest Little Liar? Much obliged, Felipe. Smart writing clears all the passageways and helps us understand the world as it is. I can see why you and Lyz get on so well.
You knocked it outta the park, Beau! I was paralyzed by indecision and overwhelmed by all of the choices in the early rounds, but jumped in finally two weeks ago. I still haven’t decided on my final choice, because they’re both WINNERS!!!!! Thank You for the real ‘March Madness “‘ and the only one that matters!
Hate to tell you this, be we folks in our 70's know what it means. Yes,ok, we had to look it up in a slang dictionary, but we are very grateful for slang dictionaries so we can figure out what you youngsters are laughing about. We really do what to be in the loop.
I really did laugh out loud at the trois-some joke. Thanks for that. Those blond, shampoo ad, Trump dollies pretending to be smart women are so predictable. As to the dingus championship, it’s hard, really hard. So, I voted twice for the winner, one vote for each candidate. But IMHO and my double vote for them, SCOTUS takes turd place. Let the championship cards fall where they may. Both candidates are worthy of the title. Maybe we can have a co-championship—kinda like we have a co-presidency (wink, wink).
With all the heartbreak in the world, here is something hopeful: Today is the 340th birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach, and right now I am listening to the Bach Birthday Bash from our satellite radio provider. Right now, they are playing the Easter cantata #4, Christ lag in Todes Banden. (You can find a translator app for that.). The music is about hope. Whatever your faith or not, it is amazing that his music is still relevant today. (I'm an organist, so he is my favorite.)
That said, I must mention the music of Swift as well - Both my daughter and one of my employees (a brilliant electrical engineer) are fans of the music of Taylor Swift.
Swift and Bach. Bach and Swift. On this day I celebrate two timeless musicians.
You were right Lyz! I enjoyed this very much. I’m sorry I missed Felipe last night in KC. I hope it was a great event. Your book is making me laugh out loud so much that my family all want to read it when I’m done!
Thank you, Felipe! Great Dingus profile. I'm pretty sure someone fed her that line about the French speaking German. Not sure she showed up for history class.
"A Minor Trump party" is the lyrics Kenrick Lamar will never sing at the White House now that they've canceled Black History Month
...and Trump named himself Chairman of the Super Bowl Halftime Show
Mi amor

Dammit, Beau! I’m trying to take things one week at a time. 😘
You make me blush!

Beau! How can one choose between the last two Dingii? They are both simply hors concours, as we say here in Vieux Europe.
“Kirkland Brand Hawk Tuah Girl Karoline Leavitt” had me cackling.
Perfect!
😆
plus 1 on that!
The crowd putting Mike Flood in check give me hope. You love to see it.
Legit spit my coffee out on Kirkland Brand Hawk Tuah Girl. Just excellence all around on this one. Every nickname in this piece is a work of art.
I read Say Nothing a couple summers ago and I want to give the Hulu adaptation a shot soon. The book was incredibly grim but so fascinating.
Sorry about the coffee!!
My parents are visiting and I’m just glad my 76yo mother did not ask me about it because I did not want to explain Hawk Tuah to her or my dad.

I'm 64 and I had to look it up. But it was obvious it wasn't something complimentary...!

excellent point!
I've been waiting for you, Felipe, to share my disgust with K Leavitt. The smugness. Ugh! Thank you
Excellent Felipe! Your last paragraph was spot. I have a book to buy...

Thanks. Very soothing to think about the music of Bach and Swift.

I imagine Saturday Night Live writers are working on a sketch about Leavitt as we speak. She's handed them great material 😳
Brilliant. 🤣🤣🤣 Love both of you

She’s never been to Alsace-Lorraine, poor soul.
I doubt they would welcome her now.
🤣
Excellent, as usual.
But one sadness - terrible resale value for Tesla's! Maybe you all can afford to take a $25K loss on a car, but I'll keep driving mine.
Finally, Karoline Leavitt. And a spectacular tribute by Mr. Felipe! Thanks, Lyz, for giving him a spotlight.
