Thanks for the playlist - I like me a bit of Rage Against The Machine; but a tip for young players, if you're playing them at top volume in your car with your windows down, wind them up if you're passing a parked police car. Just in case 😉
I do have an addition to the list you might consider - Midnight Oil's Beds Are Burning. It is about indigenous land rights, but it's wonderfully angry, as well it should be.
What a 4th it was. It's my grandson's birthday, but he ghosted us to be with his friends (he's 12). We celebrated without him, and like a good young American he fretted over not getting birthday presents. We had already given them, but he forgot. Yesterday was the first time we abolished talk of politics, just during the cookout. That playlist is great, particularly because it includes Mississippi Goddamn by Nina Simone. I think we could expand the state names in that one at this point.
Omg that SNL clip. I cried laughing! Sums up the ridiculousness of our country at times. Also, thank Gawd for the Olympic trials and upcoming Olympic games. LFG USA!
Maybe the near miss is a warning to the dinguses? And if there were a dingus dunk tank they would have to reinforce the shield because I think a lot of us would aim straight for the nose.
Trump is now trying to disavow P25 because it's getting attention and we the people don't Iike it. Had one MAGABOT on Twitter try to tell me it's "popular"....no.
Lyz, hopefully it's unrelated to the recent illnesses in your family, but if you're using vintage dishes you may want to have them checked for lead and other toxins. I recently learned a set from the 90s that I got from my mom tested high for arsenic and lead. The Lead Safe Mama website has a search for old dishes that have been tested.
Just what I needed this week, you're brilliant. Great playlist, too! I would add Patti Smith, People Have the Power; and Lucy Wainwright Roche's version of Tom Petty's We Won't Back Down. Or Petty's version if you want to play it loud. I do, at least once a week. Thanks, Lyz, as always.
I have no children but I have staff with children. I so I get all the emails about needing to take kids with 102 degree fevers to the doctor. I concur that someone is trying to poision everyone. There are also lots of viruses turning into secondary infections. This is a mostly group that is dispersed around the US.
Thank you for including La Femme Fetal, on point for 30 years. Saw Diggable Planets in 1993 playing in a Seattle skating rink and have been digging their funky beats ever since.
Yesterday I was walking near my house when I was greeted by a woman working in her yard. "Hi!" I responded. "Happy fourth!"
"Oh," she said, and then after a long pause: "Yeah."
I like her
“I say we reinstate the draft but just to stop men from writing takes like that. Sir, go to war!” 😳😂😂
It doesn't even have to be a real war. Pack em off to the war on Christmas or whatever so the rest of us can get things done.
The only thing worth celebrating yesterday was my adult niece's birthday because she's an amazing human being who could decently run the world.

SCOTUS failed to send the immunity memo to the asteroid…but the second best rock is coming!

What an emotional roller coaster this one is!
You are something else, Lyz.
Thank you.
Pete
Thank you for the Hot Dog link. . . who knew that learning about Joey Chesnut's ban for supporting a rival brand was what I needed this morning.
The Seattle Mariners have started doing “Hot Dogs from Heaven”, where on select games, hotdogs are tossed from the upper deck attached to parachutes while Brenda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a Place on Earth” plays: https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/how-the-mariners-struck-marketing-gold-with-hot-dogs-from-heaven/
