Off topic but important: Thank you for calling it Twitter. I’m all for annoying and disrespecting the sperm donor who deadnames his daughter.

Here in Mo., when the AG created a hotline to report questionable gender transition practices, the people rose to the challenge and flooded the line appropriately. I look forward to the people of N.Y. doing the same, and I certainly hope to hear the good ones on social media.

👍 Using what people power we still have.

Good choice. To this outsider Hochul showed her true(er) colors when she axed congestion pricing in New York City just before the election. Hell, I wish we had congestion pricing here in Iowa.

I wrote in Elon Musk on the DotY ballot. He checks ALL the boxes, and it's no coincidence the world's wealthiest person is also one of the world's worst people. There's no fixing what's wrong with that guy, and it should be a cautionary tale to all of humanity.

“Perhaps this violence could have awakened us, nationally, to the need for a more compassionate and accessible healthcare system. There was even a chance that this high-profile killing would make some powerful opponents of gun control reconsider their stance. It could, at a minimum, have forced people at large to consider what kinds of violence are condemned and what broader systemic violence is allowed without question.”

AS IF!!! Heaven forbid there be any sensible conversation ever about what are ACTUALLY threats to the majority of people. I slide ever closer to the Burn It All Down and Start Over camp.

To your last sentence, yes, the half of the country on the other side is already there, and they're going to insist on pushing our side there too. It's a fraught time to be alive.

Hochul and certainly Cuomo being the kind of Democrats who make it easier for Republicans in every way...except those Republicans who need proper state services or a government looking out for the interests of the less well-off New Yorkers, or anyone else. (Cuomo's stunt of creating a fake "Women First Party" to pull votes away from the Working Families Party in NY was just one of the many warning signs the state's voters have had had...with luck, the city will heed them.)

This makes me more grateful for our governor in Oregon. She's not without flaws, and I don't like that she's cutting funding for higher ed. Wait. Never mind.

Solid dingus choice this week. The idea that the government needs to do additional work to protect CEOs is maddening. They already have the money to protect themselves! Look at the bunkers they are building!

And I love that Dar Williams song.

Excellent Dingus choice. Caregiving is hard. Making it more expensive and more difficult is terrible. I'd also like to say that when I listen to "Wait, Wait..." on Iowa Public Radio in the car on Saturday mornings and I tell my kids that Josh is a personal friend of Lyz in real life the kids are SUPER IMPRESSED!

Hochul would actually not be a bad choice for DOTY - between almost blowing New York State to Lee Zeldin(!), in the process costing the Democrats the House for the past two years, flip-flopping transparently on congestion pricing in a way that made nobody happy, and making it possible for Andrew Cuomo to even think about political vindication, she's had quite the run.

That said, I'd like to start a write-in campaign for Patrick Soon-Shiong as DOTY!

He's on the ballot! I voted for the brain worm, but Patrick Soon-Shiong is a good pick as well.

Ooh, I missed him - but now I remember that he was nominated during the run up to the election!

Seriously? Seriously?!! A pox on her, Dingusx100. Safety theater for CEOs to keep their money in Manhattan. Maybe they should just do what America’s children have to do - practice mass shooter drills and buy some bullet-proof backpacks. ( Grinch-y here! ) Glad you aren’t giving more ink to President Musk; we will have enough of him in coming months.
