*me removing Waffle House from my playlists* I'M DOING IT FOR FEMINISM!

I really want someone to make public the list of PR execs these men hire to smear their exes. The Jonas brothers are touring right now - there is no way he's some dutiful house husband and the fact that these publications are eating up this obviously bs story has a lot to do with power and personal connections on top of the clicks & the patriarchy.

Sorry, I got stuck on the fact that Sophie Turner is finding £6.50 cocktails. That's about $8, so now I worship her as a bargain cocktail queen and want to know her secrets.

Also, I'm so over men playing the martyr when they have to care for the children they helped to create. I hope he gets toddler barf in his shoes.

And if there's anyone who needs a drink, it's a woman who has 2 toddler children (3 if you count the other parent.)

Tabloids seem to exist so conservative people who want to police everyone else's behavior can feel better about how virtuous they are compared to those who are more wealthy and lauded than they will ever be. Upholding patriarchy is thankless work, but at least you can give Sophie Turner shit for being happier than you, lol.

OMG. Trying to smear her as a partier when she admitted during lockdown that she has to bring him daily tequila shots and she was GRATEFUL for lockdown because it meant he was home with her more. Yeet that man into the sun. Team Sophie, Team Sophie's kids.

I love how the Daily Mail is frothing over the “£6.50 cocktails” like she’s living it up on some goddamn extravagance when at the current exchange rate that’s about $8, which here in NYC would barely get you a beer at most fancy places.

"And there are few things society loves to hate more than a single mother." SO TRUE!!! I had people telling me what a bad mother I was for working 2 jobs, because I couldn't POSSIBLY be spending the kind of time with my child she needed/deserved--even some of my own family--even though these same people knew it was necessary in order to keep a roof over our head and (try to) keep the bills paid and buy groceries. And if I made the mistake of wanting to get a babysitter and go out with friends (which was extremely rare--I was too exhausted and guilt-ridden most of the time)? They didn't know how I could live with myself. That was in the late '80s- early '90s. Nothing's changed, and it never will :'(

YES! My first response when I heard that Sophie and Joe were history, was, well let's do the math. They started dating when she was 20 after a LONG go on GOT and the celebrity of her turn as a BADASS woman didn't have time to flourish before she was snatched up by Jonas. I'm with you, Good for Sophie-Party On, enjoy your life!

I love your agent's observation-so right on.

Ride the Lion-have a great weekend!

This makes me think of The Discourse around age differences in couples (read: cishet couples) right now. There's a certain amount of "younger women are not actual babies and it is fine to be with someone half your age as long as you are both consenting adults" and it's like: yeeeees, but! someone who has not lived as much life as you have might not be in the same place as you, and asking them to skip those years and join you at age 35 or whatever . . . is that ethical, given that they don't know what you know? I think it's at least worth asking the question before you get married.

Honestly I’m so relieved for her. There are way too many 30+ year old men who are shocked, SHOCKED, to discover their 22-year-old girlfriends actually have very different life priorities than them. May it knock some sense it to him (though it probably won’t).

Having moved back to the Midwest a year ago (from Upstate NY), it took two dinners out and I asked my spouse, “How does it feel to be back in the land of Bacon Ranch Everything?”

Thank you! I am tired and frustrated by these random people policing women’s choices and behavior. These are our actual lives that we are living to the best of our ability in the spaces we have left. I am ready to do the work to claw back every inch of our freedom and rights and get these repressive extremists to back off. They can live this way if they want to - just leave anyone who doesn’t alone.

Honestly - even at work this notion of women who must at all costs defer their own selves to sacrifice is just bullshit. I've been teaching at the college level and women do all the fucking work there, too. Men don't do the committee work to the degree that women are expected to, nor the mentorship (unless they are extractive and get credit for the work), and then you have the students, who in spite of women also having PhDs, persist in calling us Mrs. so and so. I'll admit, I just read this after reading the Media Matters report about the PragerU curriculum which breaks down what the lessons involved, including this gem: “How To Embrace Your Femininity” In “How To Embrace Your Femininity,” the hosts affirm gender stereotypes and assert the value in women taking on traditional gender roles."

ugh. (https://www.mediamatters.org/dennis-prager/research-file-we-watched-every-prageru-kids-video-here-are-lowlights?fbclid=IwAR1eulqOvhlMR3RGFdA9kKwjmN8VsaanWQWMROKrI06pdlAQShstcGWQAzE)
